Just for Sellers

Got a question about selling on Atomic Avenue, or just looking for feedback from other sellers? Share your thoughts here.

  1. With the 2022 tax year, Atomic Avenue is required to file a 1099 form with the amount of disbursements to each US seller with sales over $600 during the year. This is typically redundant with amount reported by Paypal in their 1099-K form, as sellers receive their disbursements via Paypal. For this reporting requirement, all US sellers will be required to provide their US tax ID, i.e. social security number or EIN, in order to sell on Atomic Avenue and receive disbursements. Sellers who meet the reporting threshold (currently $600 or more in annual disbursements) will see a window requesting tax ID when they log in. Your information is SSL secured when you enter it a…

  2. When browsing a seller's store on Atomic Avenue, buyers may now click on the comic books menu to alternately view the seller's magazines or books for sale:

  3. Somehow during my update to ComicBase 25, an old version of the database got uploaded to Atomic Avenue. This caused me to receive 3 orders for books that I no longer have in stock which also affects my ranking on Atomic Avenue. How can I completely reset my inventory list on Atomic Avenue with the correct version of my ComicBase data? I have currently closed my store (On Vacation) until I can get this resolved. Thanks!!!

  4. Can you really not view actual images of the comics your selling/buying? I kind of find it mind boggling that anyone would expect to sell a high dollar comic without showing images of it to the buyer. If im wrong about this my apologies. Thanks for anyone that can clear this up for me.

I just discovered I still have a bunch of sets listed, and so do a few other sellers. Has anyone ever sold a set on Atomic Avenue?

  6. I received a large order 3 days ago. I pulled all of the issues, reviewed each issue and made some grading adjustments. The buyer was notified by email twice, but the order was not reviewed and approved yet. I have had no response from the buyer. His own store site on Atomic Avenue states that he is on vacation. I can't ship the order until it is approved. What should I do in this situation?

  7. Started by Jeff Arns,

I'm a relatively new seller on Atomic Ave. I've had 9 sales but only 2 people have left me feedback. Does that affect my ranking? I rank as an 'Airman' - if everyone left feedback would my score go up?

  8. Is it just me, or do others only get orders on Atomic Avenue when Atomic's prices are way off, to the low side? Every order I get is for a comic that is way lower than the current selling price on ebay. Every now and then, I'll take the beat down, but I mostly cancel the orders, then get a demerit for cancelling. If a book is a couple dollars below the current selling price, it's fine, but the order I got today was $24 under ($30-$50 comic sold for $6.50), which is unacceptable. I give warning on my storefront that orders for pricing errors may be cancelled, but people either ignore or don't read it.

  9. Just got a sale from Australia for 29 books (Order #129560). Postage charged to the customer: $68.10. The weight of the books with bag and board alone is 6 pounds - not including box or packing material. Cost of shipping 6 pounds to Australia is $69.67 - WITH DISCOUNTED SHIPPING. So I'm taking a loss even before packaging these for overseas shipment. By the time I box these up and put in packing material - bubble wrap, etc. - it's gonna be 8 pounds. So I'm going to eat almost $20 in shipping costs on a $85 order, not to add that AA is also going to charge a commission on the inadequate shipping charged for this order. Needless to say, AA has to get the…

  10. Started by Steve Stern,

I am a new seller, and I am disappointed with the reimbursement for shipping. I shipped out 9 comics to two different sellers and the total cost for shipping was 33 dollars I was reimbursed only 22.50. I am reassessing selling on AA for this and other reasons. I am also disappointed with ComicBase values for comics. They seem to be priced quite low.

  11. Started by Vincent Farina,

Hi, I had to cancel 2 orders this week on AA, because I believe previously sold items appear in my inventory as available. And yes, I use the "remove sold items" feature, before I list my comics for sale. I cannot prove this is happening, I'd have to do an exhaustive search. However, it happens way too frequently to be user error. I'm not blaming the software per se, but maybe I am missing something. Another odd thing worth noting, when I cancel an order, you would expect the issue to go back into your inventory in ComicBase software, but when I look it up, I see zero quantity. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

Good morning, I just have a quick question about Sales Banners on Atomic Avenue. The $1 sales banner is pretty clear as to what books will be placed there. However, for the New Arrivals, On Sale, and Blowouts, can someone tell me what the specific criteria are? For New Arrivals, I see that my new postings show up there (duh!), but for how long do they stay there? For On Sale and Blowouts, I'm assuming they show up in these categories if they are below a certain percentage of the current price from Comicbase. However, I'm not sure what that criteria is. Any guidance would be appreciated greatly! Thanks, Bob

Why is the shipping cost included in the fee charged by Atomic Avenue? Sellers are not making a profit on the shipping cost, it's an expense.

  14. Atomic Avenue has been using First Class/Priority Rates for calculating shipping expenses. We will soon be changing that to Commercial rates. The USPS Commercial rates are available to all sellers who use software to create and buy shipping labels. USPS' Click and Ship software is online (making it platform independent) and free. Altneratives are programs such as Stamps.com, Pitney Bowes, and EasyPost. We encourage all sellers to start using one of these programs in order to get the commercial rate.

  15. If a buyer is unhappy with their purchase and the seller wants to provide a refund, how is that accomplished on this site.

  16. Just an observation, but why do so many sellers on Atomic don't ship to Canada? You're missing out on potential sales? Also, it would be great if we could see a list of all the sellers on Atomic. Another advantage to increase your store's visibility to old and new customers. Cheers! M

  17. if i had listing for qty 2 of an issue and turns out that i have only 1 how would i refund/cancel just 1 book not both? i had that come up and just ended up canceling both books.

  18. Started by Rob Twohy,

Wondering about points given for "same day" shipping. Does that mean within 24 hours, or does it mean literally the same calendar day? So if someone orders at 11 pm and I don't ship it out by midnight, I lose the "same day" points? Also, how do weekends play? I mean no one ships or can ship on a Sunday so... Just wondering how all that works.

I am a new seller on Atomic Avenue. I have been collecting comics for ~ 25 years and I am selling my personal collection. Do I need to charge sales tax? Or does that begin when I have sold a certain amount. This is a hobby for me and not a business. Does that make a difference? I look forward to your responses. Thanks, Steve

  21. In response to increasing merchant processing fees, Atomic Avenue will be slightly increasing its commission rate, applicable to all orders marked as shipped on and after December 14, 2021. The new rate schedule is $0.50 + 15 percent of the order total for all sales. This is the first update commission in over 7 years. Atomic Avenue commission includes the cost of transaction fees, customer support, and resolution fees.

  22. Started by Carolyn J. Bickford,

To increase the customer satisfaction of our buyers, and to enable us to continue to offer seller protection, tracking (such as USPS delivery confirmation) will be required on all orders as of December 7, 2021. Sellers will be unable to mark an order as shipped if the tracking information has not been entered in the tracking field. As before, if a buyer reports a package has not been received, the seller must provide proof of delivery or proof of refund before payment for the order is disbursed.

  23. There may be times when a seller cannot ship an order within 2 days, for instance if the seller has to go out of town or is sick. You can set your store to be "on vacation" which will hide your listings from buyers until you can ship orders again. To do so, log in to Atomic Avenue, and go to My Account > Profile. You will see an "On Vacation" checkbox. Click the checkbox and then go to the bottom of the page and click the Save button. When you can ship orders again, go to My Account > Profile and uncheck the "On Vacation" checkbox, and click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

  24. Is there a way to turn off international free shipping without having to relist my inventory? I’ve had two New Zealand orders over $250 (the threshold for intl free shipping I set 10 years ago) and each one cost about $95 to send. I want to remove the free intl shipping from my inventory, but I don’t want to relist everything because I’ve been using the discount every month feature and I don’t want it to reset back to guide prices. Any help would be appreciated as I cannot continue to take a beating on the shipping that has gone up 50% or more in the last few years.

  25. Started by Richard Hobold,

I have a buyer that I would like to block from buying my comics in the future since no matter what concessions I give him on a sale it is not good enough. So I can see this buyer giving a low rating just because he is not agreeable. This one buyer could easily get me banned even though I am trying to be a good seller.
