With the 2022 tax year, Atomic Avenue is required to file a 1099 form with the amount of disbursements to each US seller with sales over $600 during the year. This is typically redundant with amount reported by Paypal in their 1099-K form, as sellers receive their disbursements via Paypal. For this reporting requirement, all US sellers will be required to provide their US tax ID, i.e. social security number or EIN, in order to sell on Atomic Avenue and receive disbursements. Sellers who meet the reporting threshold (currently $600 or more in annual disbursements) will see a window requesting tax ID when they log in. Your information is SSL secured when you enter it and is stored with double encryption. We will only access this information when we file the reports with the IRS. As required, all sellers will receive a copy of this form.

Atomic Avenue does not support changing the quantity of items sold. Besides cancelling all items because you can't fulfil the quantity, there are some (less than ideal) work-arounds. You can use the regrade feature to change the value of the items. For instance, if the order is for 2 items priced at $5 each, you can use the regrade feature to change the price to $2.50, so the buyer is still paying $5 although he is only getting one book. This requires communication with the buyer so that the buyer understands and will accept the regrade in a timely manner. If there are more items on the order and one matches the price of the missing item, you can cancel it, and let the buyer know the cancellation is for the value of the missing item in the multiple items charged list, rather than a cancellation of said item.

Typically, your state will require you to have a seller's permit, and their rules for collecting sales tax will be included with that rule. Some states only require you to remit sales tax for sales within the state; others require you to remit sales tax for any sale within the US. If you sell internationally, some countries (specifically the UK so far), require you to have a seller's permit for their country and to collect and remit sales taxes to their country's tax collection agency. Paypal will report your income to the US Treasury/IRS. As of this year, we will also have to issue a form to you and the Treasury/IRS for annual sales of more than $600.

Buying Multiple Comics
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Robert A. Weinberg's topic in News and General Discussion
Assuming this is in the situation where the seller has multiple copies of a specific issue. In such a case, you do need to click "buy" for each one which adds to the quantity of that specific issue in your cart from that seller. Most of our sellers are individual sellers who typically only have a single copy of a specific issue in stock, or very few. There are several larger sellers who will have multiple quantities of issues available. -
Buyers cancelling an order or just an item.
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Richard Hobold's topic in Technical Issues
Michael -- we have already responded to you directly via email and phone. We understand the situation and have offered to make the order non-scoring, but you need to send us that request via email together with the order number and reason. You have no demerits on your account. Demerits are given to sellers and buyers for system violations and are visible on your storefront. You may be confused by negative points for a late order in your Seller Performance Score, which is only visible to you and the administrators, and which is used to suspend under-performing sellers from Atomic Avenue. Your Seller Performance is excellent, and should not be a concern. -
Comics and Media Mail
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to KENNETH J. FIKE's topic in News and General Discussion
If you are unhappy with the shipping method, you should contact the seller directly. Be aware that some sellers may factor the shipping price into their prices, and have lower-priced comics as a result. If you shop on a site like Amazon or eBay, you may see some items priced extremely low, but with a shipping cost that is more than the actual shipping cost. If Media Mail shipping is always unacceptable to you, you may wish to buy from a seller with higher prices who guarantees shipment that will not be USPS Media Mail. As always, Atomic Avenue encourages buyers to take advantage of free shipping, as offered by many of our sellers when you meet their specified threshold. When the buyer pays nothing for shipping, and the seller covers the entire cost, there is rarely an argument about the shipping method. Sellers can ship by any method as long as it gets to the buyer within the expected time range, and many buyers may use UPS or EasyShip for large orders, as these can be more economical than any USPS method. -
Comics and Media Mail
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to KENNETH J. FIKE's topic in News and General Discussion
So long as sellers ship an order so that the buyer receives it within the specified time, sellers may use any shipping method. Some sellers may use additional packaging for protection in order to guarantee protection for the comics, or may use an economical method in order to be able to keep their prices low. We strongly recommend looking for sellers who provide free shipping once a certain price threshold has been reached. You can find these sellers by looking for the free shipping box next to their user ID, and clicking on the user ID (or placing one of their items into your shopping cart) will show you how much you need to buy for free shipping. If you have more questions about the shipping method the seller used, you can contact the seller directly. To find the seller’s contact information, log in to Atomic Avenue and click the order number under the Purchases bar. You will see the seller’s contact information on the order page. If you have a preferred method of shipment, you can contact the seller before the item is shipped. If the cost of shipping, packaging and insurance via that method is higher than you paid, the seller may request additional funds from you. -
'Place Order' button does not work.
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Tom Wormstedt's topic in Technical Issues
Check your address and make sure the zip code is correct. the (x-y days) indicates the system is having difficulty calculating shipping times because it does not have a correct address. -
All of the Orders I've Placed Are Missing
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Brendan Conrad's topic in Technical Issues
Hi Brendan If your orders have been cancelled, or were shipped, you may need to check the Cancelled and Shipped checkboxes in your Purchases bar to see all of your orders. If you placed an order and have not received an email with the order number or cannot see it under the Purchases bar, contact us directly at support@atomicavenue.com or call us at 213 471 2423. -
In response to increasing merchant processing fees, Atomic Avenue will be slightly increasing its commission rate, applicable to all orders marked as shipped on and after December 14, 2021. The new rate schedule is $0.50 + 15 percent of the order total for all sales. This is the first update commission in over 7 years. Atomic Avenue commission includes the cost of transaction fees, customer support, and resolution fees.

To increase the customer satisfaction of our buyers, and to enable us to continue to offer seller protection, tracking (such as USPS delivery confirmation) will be required on all orders as of December 7, 2021. Sellers will be unable to mark an order as shipped if the tracking information has not been entered in the tracking field. As before, if a buyer reports a package has not been received, the seller must provide proof of delivery or proof of refund before payment for the order is disbursed.

No. We had a hardware-caused system-down a couple weeks ago, but no data breaches. Feel free to forward the article or alert to us directly at support@atomicavenue.com so we can correct it with the source.

Turning off free shipping without relisting
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Kevin Devine's topic in Just for Sellers
You can turn off free shipping in the Selling settings in ComicBase. You don't have to use guide pricing -- you can set your updates/reposts to ignore guide prices and keep your prices. If you have the discount every month feature turned on, it will continue to function. -
Blocking a Buyer from your Store
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Richard Hobold's topic in Just for Sellers
We do not currently have a feature to allow sellers to block specific buyers from their store. However, we will request a seller's wish not to do business with a specific buyer. Please email this request with the buyer's user ID to support@atomicavenue.com. You may cancel future orders from the seller, and if you let us know, we will mark the cancellation as non-scoring. -
Buyer claims he didn't receive a comic
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Amalia E. Barrios's topic in Just for Sellers
No, if you have proof of delivery to the buyer's address, you do not need to refund the buyer. If we receive a claim from the buyer, we will provide the USPS delivery confirmation. You and/or the buyer may file a missing mail report at https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm. USPS will investigate. Please take a screen shot of the proof of delivery and hang on to it in case there is a delayed claim. -
Deleting Atomic Avenue Account
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to JAMES R. HANSON's topic in Technical Issues
We and the sellers who shipped orders to you have to keep a receipt of transactions. We do not share your information with third parties, except as required for auditing and regulatory purposes and in response to subpoenas in case of suspected criminal activity. If you wish to no longer receive communication from Atomic Avenue, log in to your account and go to My Account > Profile and uncheck yourself from all newsletters. You may also email support@atomicavenue.com and request to be permanently banned and fully blocked from Atomic Avenue. We can ban your account and make it inaccessible to you and to anyone other than Atomic Avenue and any sellers with whom you have had transactions. -
Buyers cancelling an order or just an item.
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Richard Hobold's topic in Technical Issues
Buyers can only cancel an order after the Processing period closes, so it is in your best interest as a seller to ship an order as quickly as possible in order to prevent capricious cancellations. Buyers can also cancel regraded items as soon as they are regraded. Before that, buyers will need to email a seller if they want an items cancelled off the order or the order cancelled altogether. If this is the buyer's decision, sellers should cancel the items or the order at the buyer's request. Sellers can forward the buyer's cancellation request and note that they have completed the cancellation to support@atomicavenue.com and Atomic Avenue can mark the order as non-scoring. Sellers won't get penalized for the cancellations, but they also won't get credit for having shipped any remaining items on time. If you don't ship before the processing period closes, and the buyer cancels before you ship it, it will count against your seller performance score. -
We required address verification for security. Contact your bank to add your shipping address to your account for address verification purposes. You may also consider using Paypal checkout , or Paypal for checkout, as this has more options for address verification.

Seller Claims this book is NM ...
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to Randy Douglas's topic in News and General Discussion
We are sorry you are having a negative experience with a seller on Atomic Avenue. The seller has offered to reimburse you for your return shipping cost. But to get the refund for the book and the reimbursement, you need to ship the item back to the seller. Your feedback is visible to other buyers. Many buyers will review the statements from other buyers, as well as the seller's rank and rating before they buy. There is no need to correspond with the seller further, other than to return the damaged item, check your confirmation that your return has been received, and expect a refund within 5 days of the seller's receipt of the returned item. -
Change your region setting in Windows from US to Canada, and the next time you launch ComicBase, it will prompt you with an option to change your currency to Canadian dollars.

i keep getting new listing notifications
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to adrian hunter's topic in News and General Discussion
If you are getting listing notifications, you have items marked as for sale and Sidekick set to post the items. Follow these steps: Remove your Atomic Avenue Inventory. Go to your My Account > My Store page, Click Store Setup at the top, then and click the “Remove” button at the bottom of the page. Make sure that you remove inventory from all databases shown in the Database ID drop down. Cancel any outstanding orders. Let the buyer know the books were listed accidentally and cancel each order so they can receive a refund. Go to ComicBase, and unmark your books as “For Sale”. Launch ComicBase, then use Comics > Mass Change to change “For Sale” to not be checked. Apply this change to all titles. Check to make sure that your preferences aren’t set to mark new comics as for sale. Check Setup > Preferences and make sure that “Mark new comic as For Sale” is not checked. Tell Sidekick not to post your For Sale comics automatically. Right-click on Sidekick in your notification area (the bottom right of your computer, next to the clock; you may need to click the upwardly pointing arrow icon to see it; Sidekick is the little super-hero icon). Right-click Sidekick and choose “Settings”. Check your schedule and make sure that Sidekick is set to post your comics for sale “Never”. Add notifications@atomicavenue.com to your safe sender list. If your comics are posted to Atomic Avenue, you will receive a notice from that address, including instructions such as these on how to remove accidental listings to Atomic Avenue, and prevent it from happening again. -
If you do not have tracking on an international order, contact Atomic Avenue support at support@atomicavenue.com with the order number. Atomic Avenue will withhold the disbursement to the seller until the seller provides proof of delivery, proof of refund, or the buyer confirms receipt of the order. We will also review our system to make sure orders cannot be shipped without tracking. International travel restrictions have affected international delivery times, with orders from the UK to the US taking as long as 2 months. See this thread for recent information. You can also review the international incidents update page for Royal Mail which has noted delivery delays through the Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago gateways. Contact the seller directly for more information including the tracking number.

can't contact a buyer about a problem
Carolyn J. Bickford replied to adrian hunter's topic in Just for Sellers
You will see the buyer's contact information when you click the order number under the order # column under the Sales bar in your Recent Activity section. If the buyer's contact information is incorrect, such as a bounced email or disconnected phone number, contact Atomic Avenue support. All users are required to have valid contact information. If you don’t have an item that a buyer ordered, cancel it from the order. Atomic Avenue will issue a refund to the buyer for the cancelled order. Here is an article with instructions.
